Symposium on conflicting goals: preserving open spaces, climate adaptation, nature-based solutions, natural climate protection

The overarching goal of this project is to support the client, the Stiftung Umwelt und Entwicklung Nordrhein-Westfalen (AG), in organising and executing a one-day technical symposium for approximately 200 participants on 7 October 2026 in Bonn. The event’s central theme is “Conflicts of Interest: Open Space Preservation, Climate Adaptation, Nature-Based Solutions, Natural Climate Protection”. The objective is to address how to manage these conflicts, focusing on climate change adaptation and showcasing its positive co-benefits, such as enhanced biodiversity and urban green spaces. Ultimately, the project aims to ensure the successful delivery of the event, covering planning, speaker selection, participant management, and on-site logistics.
Our role, as the contractor, is structured around three key work packages. Firstly, we handle Programme Creation and Speaker Selection, which involves developing the event concept, drafting the programme, and researching potential international and national speakers focused on practical implementation examples. Secondly, for Participant Management, we set up and manage the online registration system, assist with drafting key communications (e.g., invitations), and report registration status to the client. Finally, in Event Organisation, we coordinate all logistical aspects, including the venue, securing regional and vegetarian/vegan catering options, and providing on-site support for registration, technology, and moderation to ensure a successful and sustainable conference
